Mangoes in season and scorching ? Then this is a must try to keep your cool..
When mangoes are in season most of food is a reflection of mangoes… During summers only one can think of drinking lots and lots of liquids rather than eating. While we have a wide variety of summer coolers , this is also a great addition to the list. The recipe is so simple that even kids can try their hands on it and of course they will love to drink it too.
The best variety of mango to use is Alphonso, since it’s very sweet naturally which makes the lassi to use less artificial sweeteners.The mangoes need to be fully ripe to enhance its taste. I am using honey as a sweetener but feel free to use sugar too. An optional ingredient is saffron , which really lifts up the flavours and taste.
1 Mango , fully ripe
1/3 rd cup Yoghurt
1 cup Milk
3 Cardamom Pods deseeded
Honey/ Sugar as per taste
- Chop the mangoes after peeling them .
- Add it to a smoothie maker or blender.
- Add milk , yoghurt, honey and cardamom seeds.
- Blend it well so that there are no lumps.
- Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
Note – You can use chilled yoghurt and milk so that it can be consumed right away.
Adjust the milk to thin down the lassi and check for sweetness too.
You can top it up with saffron and dry fruits.
